I haven't sung for years! Will this be ok?

Absolutely, many of my students have come from musical backgrounds which have laid dormant for many years, until they build up the courage to give it another go. I enjoy helping my students rediscover their love of singing.

I'm a complete new to this, but I want to get started. Do you work with beginners?

Yes I do. I've worked with students of all ages who have never sung a note in front of anyone else. Don't worry, this is only the beginning. You'll be rewarded once you get the ball rolling!

I have a friend who loves singing, and I want to give them a gift of lessons. Do you do this?

Yes indeed, I have taught many people who have received gift vouchers from friends. Please just ask if you are interested in setting this up.

Your First Lesson

Referred to as a consultation, your first lesson is a chance to meet and talk through your goals, as well as a chance for me to hear your voice and assess what we should be focusing on in order to get your voice up to the standard you want. Usually this would be for only a half hour, and half of the usual fee. It is a no-obligation opportunity for you to come with any questions you may have, and if you feel it's not for you, then that's ok (although this has never happened!)

Fees for first lessons are payable in advance, usually via bank transfer.

Lesson Times

Lessons are usually 45 minutes to an hour, depending on convenience and/or vocal ability.

To fit in with working schedules, I teach mainly in the evening, but am flexible and also teach during the day.

Lesson Venues

I mainly teach in hired music rooms in central London (Russell Square and Edgware Rd) which are booked ahead of each lesson. More information on these is available on the Venues Page.
I can also teach by special arrangement in students’ homes, given there is enough space (and a piano) to work.

Lesson Fees

Lessons are usually £40, depending on the venue which is used. This covers the hire of the venue. Fees are usually finalised after the initial consultation,

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations are OK, it's just the way things are sometimes. However, once lessons are confirmed, due to the fact that venues must be booked in advance, half of the original fee must be paid if a lesson must be cancelled. If there is less than 24 hours notice for a cancelled lesson, the full fee will apply. Cancellations should be made by telephone, at the earliest possible stage.
